NE-118: Non-Emulsifier
Use: NE-118 is a broad spectrum non-ionic non-emulsifier for use in acidizing and fracturing treatments. NE-118 is added to stimulation fluids to reduce the emulsion forming tendency of fluids with residual oil in the formation during or after stimulation treatments. The prime objective is to prevent or break emulsions in-situ before stimulated wells are put back on production. Such emulsions can block fractures and cause formation damage. NE-118 functions by reducing the interfacial tension between brines or acid and crude oils.
NE-118 is also pumped with acid spearheads to lower the breakdown pressures and minimize the possibilities of forming acid/oil emulsions.

Odor: Faint Organic
Density: 8.4 lbs/ga
Pour Point: Less than 20 deg F
Flash Point: Greater than 175 deg F
Typical Surface Tension: Less than 45 dynes/cm2
Typical Emulsion Break Time: Less than 5 mins
Compatibility: Compatible with most known fracturing fluids like acids, gels, FR’s and additives. A compatibility test is always recommended.
Environment: Not hazardous to the environment.
Typical Dosage: Typically used at 1 to 4 GPT with frac fluids. Specific dosage rates vary according to type of treatment being performed, emulsifying characteristics of the oil encountered in the formation and treating fluid. Optimum dosage rates for specific treatments are determined experimentally.
Temperature Limitations: Can be used across a wide temperature range, no lower temperature limitation on performance. Has been effectively used up to BHT of 350 F.
