Potential Health Effects

Inhalation: 1-Hydroxyethylidene-1, 1-Diphosphonic Acid causes irritation and burns in the respiratory tract.
Ingestion: HEDP causes irritation to the gastrointestinal tract. It may cause burns and severe damage to digestive tract. It may cause nervous system effects.
Skin Contact: HEDP causes irritation to skin. Symptoms include redness, itching, and pain. It may cause rashes and burns.
Eye Contact: HEDP causes irritation, redness, and pain. It may cause burn and corneal damage.
Carcinogenicity: 1-Hydroxy Ethylidene-1,1-Diphosphonic Acid is not known to be carcinogen.

4. First Aid Measures

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention immediately.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Skin: Contact: Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention. Wash clothingbefore reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse. Get medical attention.
Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting upper and lower eyelids occasionally. Do not allow the victim to rub eyes. Get medical attention.

5. Fire Fighting Measures

Fire: 1-Hydroxy Ethylidene-1,1-Diphosphonic Acid or HEDP is a slight fire hazard. Dust air mixture may ignite or explode.
Fire Extinguishing Media: Use any means suitable for extinguishing surrounding fire over HEDP. Water spray may be used to keep fire exposed containers cool. Dry chemicals, carbon dioxide, water, foam are ok.
