SDS MSDS of Dextrose Manufacturers
Dextrose is the name of a simple sugar made from corn or wheat that is chemically identical to glucose, or blood sugar. Dextrose is often used in baking products as a sweetener, and is commonly found in items such as processed foods and corn syrup. Dextrose also has medical purposes. It is dissolved in solutions that are given intravenously, which can be combined with other drugs, or used to increase a person’s blood sugar.

Dextrose FCC Food Grade
D-Glucose; Glucose; Corn Sugar
C6H12O6 --- Formula weight 180.16 --- CAS 50-99-7DESCRIPTION
Dextrose occurs as white, crystalline granules or as a granular powder. It is purified and crystallized D-glucose. It is anhydrous or contains one molecule of water of crystallization. It is freely soluble in water, very soluble in boiling water, and slightly soluble in alcohol.
Function: Nutritive sweetener; humectant; texturizing agent.REQUIREMENTS
Identification: Add a few drops of a 1:20 aqueous solution to 5 mL of hot alkaline cupric tartrate. A copious red precipitate of cuprous oxide forms.
Assay: Not less than 99.5% and not more than 100.5% of reducing sugar content (dextrose equivalent), expressed as Dglucose, calculated on the dried basis.
Arsenic: Not more than 1 mg/kg.
Chloride: Not more than 0.018%.
Lead: Not more than 0.1 mg/kg.
Loss on Drying: Anhydrous: Not more than 2.0%; Monohydrate: Not more than 10.0%.
Optical (Specific) Rotation: Between +52.6°degreeand +53.2degree after drying.
Residue on Ignition: Not more than 0.1%.
Starch: Passes test.
Sulfur Dioxide: Not more than 0.002%.

D-Glucose, monohydrate.
D-Glucose monohydrate [CAS 5996-10-1].
Anhydrous 180.16 [CAS 50-99-7].Dextrose is a sugar usually obtained by the hydrolysis of starch. It contains one molecule of water of hydration or is anhydrous.
Identification: Add a few drops of a solution (1 in 20) to 5 mL of hot alkaline cupric tartrate: a copious red precipitate of cuprous oxide is formed.
Color of solution: Dissolve 25 g in water to make 50.0 mL of solution: the solution has no more color than a solution prepared by mixing 1.0 mL of cobaltous chloride, 3.0 mL of ferric chloride, and 2.0 mL of cupric sulfate with water to make 10 mL, and diluting 3 mL of this solution with water to 50 mL. Make the comparison by viewing the solutions downward in matched color-comparison tubes against a white surface.
Specific rotation: between +52.6degrees and +53.2degrees.
Acidity: Dissolve 5.0 g in 50 mL of carbon dioxide-free water. Add phenolphthalein and titrate with 0.020 N sodium hydroxide to the production of a distinct pink color: not more than 0.30 mL is required for neutralization.
Water: Dry it at 105C for 16 hours: the hydrous form loses between 7.5% and 9.5% of its weight, and the anhydrous form loses not more than 0.5% of its weight.
Residue on ignition: not more than 0.1%.
Chloride: A 2.0-g portion shows no more chloride than corresponds to 0.50 mL of 0.020 N hydrochloric acid (0.018%).
Sulfate: A 2.0-g portion shows no more sulfate than corresponds to 0.50 mL of 0.020 N sulfuric acid (0.025%).
Arsenic: 1 ppm.
Heavy metals: Dissolve 4.0 g in water to make 25 mL of solution: the limit is 5 ppm.
Dextrin: Reflux 1 g of finely powdered Dextrose with 20 mL of alcohol: it dissolves completely.
Soluble starch, sulfites: To a solution of 1 g in 10 mL of water add 1 drop of iodine: the liquid is colored yellow.
